Okay if you have notcied on my right sidebar somewhere below, I have the Alexa ranking stated in a cute. small box. Yes, that's my current Alexa ranking. It WAS at 193xxx before, but after a week of inactivity over the Johore Straits, it's dropped and is dropping still. That sucks totally!

Anyways, the Alexa rankings is somewhat similar in goals to the Google PageRank. Though less significant than our big G, it is still important in determining one website's place in the internet world.

But how do you increase your Alexa rankings? Forgive my lack of research, but I think it works this way:

  1. Users who have the Alexa toolbar installed visits your site
  2. The Alexa toolbar logs this visit as a count
  3. The Alexa ranking engine gets this count
  4. Your Alexa rankings are updated after some time

But I think that natural, organic traffic from all search engines also play a part. I mean, there's sure to be a balance for everything.  So it's equally important to build on your keywords and SEO too.

In addition, most sponsored posts programs judge you based on both your Google PageRank as well as your Alexa Ranking. But now that big G is clamping down on sponsored posts and links, I think that Alexa might just be the way to go in the future!

So for people with IE and Firefox, kindly download and install the toolbar here. It's a good start, and if we all help each other, we can certainly maximise the use of this toolbar to our advantage.
