I am furious I couldn't find trashbins on the MRT. I wanted to dispose of my bubble tea cup, but couldn't find it anywhere. So I went down to the toilet, I knew there had to be a trashbin there. Thankfully, there was so I disposed my trash there.

But I don't friggin get the logic. Because of possible bomb threats? Cmon, then why the toilet got trashbin? I know lah for obvious reasons, but listen to this: It's seldom used, Low traffic plus secluded, perfect place to plant a C4 bomb too.

Are there no other alternatives? Maybe ATM machines as pictured above can be the public trashbins?

  1. im surprised you noticed it only now.

its been, 3 years already? :P

  2. Because today, is the first time (in my life) I have a need to dispose of rubbish on the MRT station. :D

But actually the aim of my post is to show the holligible + tellible truth. The government must’ve seen this coming, right?

  3. ya man! no trash bins at mrt stations! so irritating. there was once, i threw my sweets wrapper onto the mrt track. hahaha! untuk lepaskan geram. next time, i throw you into the track lah pulak okay? :)

  4. Yea, SMRT is pretty uptight on people trying to put a bomb into the trashbin. But if they wanted to put a trashbin in the MRT station, they will probably put new security cameras to monitor the bin and that we know is quite silly.

Or else they can invent a new announcement,”For your own safety, if you see any suspicious looking bag in our trash bin, please report to the station control immediately.” Then we will have people peeping into the trashbin occasionally.

  5. yeah.. i know how u feel man. Can’t they just put a rubbish bin near the control centre?

  6. Hmm well you can write in to give that suggestion, but the staff at the station control will probably hate you for it.

They will claim “added job responsibility and job scope” and demand for a higher pay. ha ha

  7. Don’t you know you are not supposed to be eating, drinking, etc? They ensured no trash bins there on that assumption, duh!

  8. Does that mean we don’t have rubbish to throw?

Then where to dump those rubbish, say i just sneezed into a tissue paper and I need to throw my crap?

No eating/drinking within MRT premises and on the train. I understand. But on my way up to the control station, I didn’t see any ‘No Eating/Drinking’ signs anywhere either. Only ‘No Smoking’ signs. But I don’t really care about this.

Look at the above ATM picture. Do you think there’s a need for a rubbish bin?

And if we’re so concerned about security, what about other alternatives like a bomb-proof trashbin or something? I don’t know, just a suggestion. At least that way, it’ll clear up litter.
