I have this fetish for Gelare ice-cream waffles nowadays. Especially on Tuesdays. Yeah, we all know it’s half-priced waffles on Tuesdays.
HALF-PRICED WAFFLES. Only the WAFFLES are half-priced. Please note this! You still get charged normally for the ice creams, so Gelare still make their moolahs from us dorks!
If you’re in town and you want to fill up your stomach with some ice cream, here are some of their outlets:
Of the list, I’ve only been to the one at FEP and Citylink. Well, since their ice creams pretty much taste the same, I usually judge on their quality of service and servings.
The FEP branch: It depends on who’s serving you actually. If you get a good one, you’ll get the ice cream nicely scooped and placed on the waffles, just like what you see in the menu. I was lucky when I went there the last time. The first time I went there, it was not up to standard.
Citylink Mall: At night, the air con is turned off. The presence of spotlights in their shop increase the temperature of the room, so it gets really warm and stuffy. Ice creams melt very fast, and your plate gets super messy. Waffles won’t be crunchy anymore, and I’m pretty sure your Tuesday SPECIAL will be ruined.
But the best hor in my opinion, is the the East Coast Park outlet. At night, there’s little traffic. The ambience there gets really cosy, peaceful and nice. There are sofas too, so you can have a relaxing time with the waffle ice-creams.
The service there is good too. I am impressed with the quality of servings as well. Macam like in the menu picture sia, so yummy!
One thing I don’t like hor, is when the menu shows one thing, and what appears on your plate is another. I WILL feel cheated of my money!
So yeah, go get your half-priced waffle ice creams on Tuesdays! I recommend the chocolate waffles. They’re really yummy!
*ponders. If only Gelare would make me their ambassador…*

3How can ice cream be not halal? Before Swensens went Halal, Muslims still patronized Swensens for their ice cream. Eh abih ice cream kat tepi jalan tu, takde chap Halal, macam mane? Boleh makan ke?
Abih pergi hawker centre Indian stall pun takde pun chap HALAL? But nobody questions, they just go in and order their food.
What, just because there are Arabic letterings on their signboard, it means they’re Halal-certified?
What I’m trying to say is, you practice your own discretion. Whatever it is, it’s between you and God. If you think I eat non-Halal Gelare ice-cream and I am condemned to Hell for that, I’m fine with it, honest.
Anyway no offence. Just trying to prove a point.

4Hahahahahahaxz!!!
Lex arh..bleh stakat sumarise per..hahahahax..okok..I get your point..
But the thing is..yang tepik jalan tuh kan, takde arak..
Mungkin kat Gelare dier ader letak arak..you dont noe wad..drink Starbucks before?..ader chap HALAL tak??..tapik Muslims go in there macam masok suker2 jer..padahal tak halal..
Indian stall sells roti prata..no non-halal as an ingredient..
I am not trying to debate on HALAL ‘chops’ here..just tryna make sure only..
Anyway no offence. Just trying to prove a point.

5Nazirul:
How you know the one at the roadside was made without alcohol? You assume?
Then now you think they put alcohol into Gelare’s ice creams? Kau biar betul.
And now you expect a HALAL stamp for coffee too?
Do Indian stalls sell only roti pratas? Dude, cmon. How do you know those mending the stalls are Muslims, and how do you know their products are HALAL? You assume again, because of the presence of Arabic wordings on their signboards? So you assume it’s HALAL?
Why can’t you assume Starbucks is HALAL too then, if you go there for coffee or cakes?
Do you see where I’m going with this?

6Hi, just stopping by to drop a comment. Ice cream can be non-halal due to the use of pork-based gelatin. Just for your information and not to ridicule anybody.
Always remind yourself to ask the people working at such establishment if it is Halal or not since it is a major concern for muslims. I know for Malaysians it may be hard to think of such, but if you go to other countries such as the US, you have to check whether or not the ingredients are halal for consumption. One easy way to check it, is by seeing if they have the U (for universal consumption), the K (for kosher) or the D (dairy) label. That helps because if it is labeled as such, than the product is okay for us muslims to consume.
So, again, not all ice cream is halal. You can’t assume that ice cream is made from just dairy products these days as they may have put gelatin-based products in them.
Regards
