I own the 1000H, so that gives me some HDD space to put in linux. Well, I installed Ubunty 8.04 Hardy, but sadly it doesn’t fully function out of the box with your eeePC.
When I installed Ubuntu Hardy right from the dvd, my wireless couldn’t function. Nor did my camera and some other stuffs.
So what do you have to do? Well, I solved my problems with a custom eeePC kernel package designed specifically for eeePC and Ubuntu Linux.
I’m talking about Array.org, a good place to start your development.
They’ll take you through the whole process via their tutorial. It’s easy peasy, jsut copy-paste their instructions and you’ll get your eeePC Linux running up in no time!
But beware, Linux doesn’t have excellent power management utilities like Windows. So your battery life will SUCK. My eeePC roughly gets 5 hours on Windows, but 2.5 hours on Linux.
Anyway, good luck!
Hey Troy. When’s the big game?
Erm, yesterday?
