This goes out to the Apple fanboys out there! I was one of you, though not a hardcore one. But I swore that my iPhone 3g would last me for more than my 2 years contract.

Boy I was wrong. It lasted me 1 year before I switched over to my current Motorola Milestone. Two days back, Singtel sent me an email saying that I could buy the iPhone4 and have my $300 penalty waived.

WHAT?

Why should I buy an inferior product in the first place? I’m sure you’ve heard all the Jango Fett about the reception issues. Not an issue to you? Well, it’s still an inferior product! Go and buy a second class product and be a second class consumer.

Secondly, multitasking. Iphone apps must be written and developed to accept multitasking. For me, this means an inferior OS. It’s pretty simple really. I want to be able to download ANY app and have it multitasked-ready. How many developers out there are going to upgrade their product to make it multitaskable? Willing to pay?

Thirdly, the iOS is closed source. I’m so sorry Apple fanboys, this means lesser market share => less profits => less inferior products => More Android phone sales => Android RULES. Phone manufacturers want flexibility and option to produce their own “version” of an OS without having to develop one, and Google has made this possible with Android. Phone manufacturers want profits, sales volume and consumer preference. Android allows them to tailor new apps/system functionalities that makes their products stand out differently from the other competitors at LOW COST. This means CHEAPER phones for you consumers.

So you can jailbreak your iPhone? Go ahead and play the waiting game over and over again ;) Go wait for a compatible jailbreak patch, and wait, and try and fail, and wait :D

There’s more but I shall stop here. Well if you want to know what I’m using my iPhone 3g for now, well it’s basically an iPod touch to me now. Fun for entertainment ONLY.

This works on my jailbroken iPhone 3G 3.0.1

Here are the links to download TomTom v1.1:

http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?mtj2mtrmz5t

http://uploading.com/files/amb9bbm3/Malaysia_Singapore_v1.1-Map_v835_2458.ipa/

Here is the .exe that you can use to connect your iPhone via your USB cable. Use WinSCP to tunnel through:

make_itunnel

How to install?

Installation via iTunes FAILED for me. So I downloaded Appulous via Cydia, and installed via Appulous.

TomTom crashing on launch?

You need to install ldid tool on your iPhone via terminal. In SSH terminal, execute the command below. Use PUTTY.
apt-get install ldid

After finished with the installation you need to run the command below :
ldid -S /private/var/mobile/Applications/05D926FE-6DCA-43D1-A671-C3B90D608793/Australia.app/Australia

* Don’t forget to replace the command with your file path. Basically you need to replace this line with your own path “05D926FE-6DCA-43D1-A671-C3B90D608793/Australia.app/Australia”

You need to figure out this path by yourself. SSH through to your iPhone.

What now? I still have problems!

There shouldn’t be any clarifications that I need to make. If you are experienced, you will know how and what to do. You will google and google and google till you find the answer.

If you are a noob, then you shouldn’t attempt to do this. If you’re still stubborn, go ahead and experiment…if you fall down, just get up and try again. That’s how you learn and gain experience. :) May the force be with you!

I own the 1000H, so that gives me some HDD space to put in linux. Well, I installed Ubunty 8.04 Hardy, but sadly it doesn’t fully function out of the box with your eeePC.

When I installed Ubuntu Hardy right from the dvd, my wireless couldn’t function. Nor did my camera and some other stuffs.

So what do you have to do? Well, I solved my problems with a custom eeePC kernel package designed specifically for eeePC and Ubuntu Linux.

I’m talking about Array.org, a good place to start your development.

They’ll take you through the whole process via their tutorial. It’s easy peasy, jsut copy-paste their instructions and you’ll get your eeePC Linux running up in no time!

But beware, Linux doesn’t have excellent power management utilities like Windows. So your battery life will SUCK. My eeePC roughly gets 5 hours on Windows, but 2.5 hours on Linux.

Anyway, good luck!

Erm, yesterday?
Well good luck! Toodles!

NEW YORK: Internet search leader Google took a giant leap into the mobile phone market on Tuesday, unveiling a handset developed with telecom carrier T-Mobile to compete with Apple’s hot-selling iPhone.

The T-Mobile G1, the first mobile device powered by Google’s open-source Android software, will be available in stores in the United States on October 22 and will cost 179 dollars.

Cole Brodman, T-Mobile chief technology and innovation officer, called the G1, built by the Taiwanese firm HTC, a “game-changing” device which will “power a new mobile Internet of the future.”

The G1, which is a bit thicker but slightly narrower than an iPhone, will go on sale in Britain in early November and in other European countries served by T-Mobile, a subsidiary of Germany’s Deutsche Telekom AG, in early 2009.

The G1 offers many of the features of the iPhone and Research in Motion’s popular BlackBerry including a touch screen similar to that of the iPhone, a trackball for navigation, high-speed Internet browsing, Wi-Fi, e-mail, instant messaging and SMS texting.

It has a 3.0-megapixel camera with photo-sharing capability and a slide-out QWERTY keyboard, a feature lacking on the iPhone.

Internet retail giant Amazon.com announced shortly before the G1 release, in a direct challenge to Apple’s iTunes, that the entire catalogue of the Amazon MP3 music store would be available on the new phone.

The new phone has, unsurprisingly, been closely integrated with Google applications such as Google Maps and G-Mail and can display videos from YouTube, the video-sharing site purchased by Google in 2006.

“Google’s strategy is all about broad reach for their services,” said Charles Golvin, an analyst at Forrester Research. “It’s just the first step in a long strategic voyage for Google.”

Carolina Milanesi, research director at Gartner Consulting, agreed.

“Google is moving into the mobile devices market not to become yet another mobile phone manufacturer but to enable a large addressable market for its services and applications,” she said.

“The G1 is the first of a series of devices that will come to market and will be optimised to offer consumers a superior experience when using Google services and applications.”

Google hopes the open-source Android software powering the G1 will eventually become the dominant operating system for mobile phones and make handsets compatible with the networks of multiple carriers.

“A developer will be able to use it as a platform,” said Andy Rubin, senior director of mobile platforms for Google. “A developer will be able to modify the platform and make it better.”

“It’s very exciting for me as a computer geek to have a phone that I can play with and modify,” said Google co-founder Sergey Brin, who made a surprise appearance at the launch event.

The phone, Google’s first foray into the highly competitive mobile phone market, also will allow users to access the Android Market, where they can download software applications from developers around the world.

OMGAWD. I’m so gonna get this phone! OPEN SOURCE!

I need a pair of bud earphones for use with my PSP and laptop. I wanted to get the Audio Technicas, because I’ve used a few products before and they’re good!

But then i saw this iSecureFit Metallic Earphones. It claims to have:

Ultra Light Weight (Yeah it’s light alright)

SecureFit stays in ear while exercising (Yeah, very snug fit)

Powerful Neodymium Magnetic Bass Driven Sound (Too much bass, can’t hear treble. Muffled. Clarity sucks)

Constructed with durable metallic materials (Construction looks sibei solid and fierce)

Includes 3 pairs of soft sleeves (I can’t find these anywhere in the package!!!! Did I get cheated?!)

Noise Canceling (I don’t think something that costs $9.90 comes with noise cancellation)

Sound Isolating (For sure, I agree)

Listen comfortable at lower volumes even in loud environments (True, but sound quality sucks. Over bass and no treble man)

For the new iPod Nano “completely remastered” black (Err, I tried on my old iRiver mp3 player, and there’s no bass! Sound quality sucks once again)

I feel cheated of my $9.90. But then again, who ask me go and waste money on something I don’t trust? See lah Khairul. Next time, go for something more expensive and a more trustworthy brand!

NBCCBWTFBBQ!@%!*@^(!&#(!&#!)& I’m not gonna use this thing.
